Find out more about these new Easter titles for kids!
In the Garden is a beautiful hardcover book written by Caralyn Buehner and illustrated by Brandon Dorman (of Fablehaven fame). The story is simple in both storyline and word; it begins with the Feast of the Passover and ends up with the resurrected Lord appearing to the disciples. The pictures are beautiful; not necessarily Simon Dewey quality, but still very moving. This book seems to be geared a little bit more towards the senior Primary-aged children, ages 8 and above.
My First Story of the First Easter is definitely for younger children. It’s a board book that begins with Jesus teaching the people and choosing his disciples and then follows through with the rest of the Atonement/resurrection story, ending with Jesus’ appearance to the Nephites. It’s a little more comprehensive than In the Garden, but it’s simpler to understand (naturally - it’s for the nursery/junior Primary crowd). I’m a big fan of the “My First” books for my young kids because of how easy it is to understand.
You can find My First Story of the First Easter and In the Garden at a Deseret Book store near you or on the web at www.DeseretBook.com.
